Point of View
The point of view of Juliet Takes a Breath is first-person, exclusively told through the eyes and emotions of Juliet. Juliet is highly observant and over-thinks a lot of what she encounters in her life. She spends a lot of time reflecting on her words or actions might be interpreted by another person. She questions herself almost constantly, and has a particular sensitivity to times when she is faced with something she does not know a lot about. The novel recounts Juliet's lived experience, and the day-to-day interactions she has during her internship, but is heavily interspersed with her internal thought processes.
