Summary
In Chapter 18, Ava picks Juliet up at the airport in Miami. They go back to her house, and Juliet reunites with Titi Penny. She says that Juliet's mother did not know she was going to Miami and that Juliet needs to call her. Juliet and her mom have a heated conversation that ends abruptly. Titi Penny, Ava and Juliet eat and drink sangria together while Juliet debriefs them on what has happened that summer, from the breakup with Lainie, to Maxine and Harlowe, to Kira, and finally to what had happened during the reading the previous evening. Ava questions Juliet on how much she loves Harlowe given that she is a "hippie-ass, holier-than-thou white lady preaching her bullshit universal feminism" (221).
Ava and Juliet go upstairs to unpack, and they talk further about some of the ideas and things that Juliet has been learning...
