Summary
At the beginning of Chapter 3, Juliet is in the airport in Portland waiting for Harlowe to pick her up. Harlowe finally finds her in the airport and greets her warmly, telling Juliet she has a fresh smelling aura. Juliet does not know what that means. As they drive, Harlowe excitedly remarks that there is no moon and that Juliet has brought in a new lunar phase. Juliet starts crying, and tells Harlowe about her fraught departure from her family. Harlowe comforts her saying that a new moon gives fresh chances. When they pull up to Harlowe's house, Juliet observes that the house is not locked and there are no other protections, again contrasting it with the Bronx. Harlowe shows Juliet her room, and says goodnight.
