Chapter 10 Summary and Analysis
Joni's five-year-old niece, Kelly, dies of brain cancer in February 1970. Her short life is a reminder to Joni of the importance of every soul. The tragic loss of little Kelly brings the family even closer together. Further heartache ensues after Kelly's death. Kelly's mother, Linda, divorces her husband and is left to raise her two sons.
