Summary
In “The Rolling Calf Part One,” a woman named the Widow Fracas finds a deformed calf. Its head is on upside down. Clarence sees it as well. They are both convinced it is the Devil's handiwork. The Apostle York directs them to burn it. Back in the church, Lucinda finds a book with strange writing, including the word “calloo.” She is shocked and the Apostle chastises her for being nosy.
