Point of View
Melina Marchetta's novel "Jellicoe Road" is recounted in the first-person perspective from the point of view of main character and principle protagonist Taylor Markham. This is done because the events of the plot of the novel concern Taylor primarily, and she is the force by which the mystery around her own life is solved and explained. Additionally, Taylor's growth of character in terms of coming of age also makes her telling the story in first person that much more effective, so that the reader is able to understand the evolution of Taylor's character through her own eyes.
