Chapter 3 Summary
When Charlie awakes in chapter 3, he immediately sees a wasp and hurries out of his room. Rather than go back in for clothes, he puts on dirty clothes from the hamper, which earns him a lecture from his mother. After a tense exchange about his clothes, Charlie and his mom have another tense exchange when she tells him that, if he leaves the house today, he is to either stay at Jeffrey's house or on the street where she can see him.
Charlie protests but she makes his choices clear and he remains silent. When his mom leaves the room, Charlie takes the opportunity to leave the house and he goes to Jeffrey's. But Jeffrey isn't able to hang out because he's grounded. He explains to Charlie that, while they were out of the house yesterday, his mom's friend came over to borrow...
