Summary
Nefer sits at the table with her family, their ranch-hand Juan, and their guest, the Turk. They discuss the upcoming harvest and Nefer thinks to herself that none of them know how different she will be by then - as she is secretly pregnant. As the rest of the family discusses cows, Nefer measures the distance between her belly and the table, observing that soon that distance will start to shrink. Nefer starts to feel extremely claustrophobic at the table, and wants to rush into the fresh air, but worried about upsetting her family, she stays at the table.
