Alex Cross

Alex Cross is both a homicide detective and a trained psychologist. As such, Cross has a special insight into the minds of murderers. Cross has solved many homicide cases and is often called in to consult on others. In this novel, Cross is involved in two serial killer cases. The first is one that takes place in his own backyard. Cross, who has two children of his own, is called to investigate the killings of small students from his own son's school, the Sojourner Truth School. The first death is a little six-year-old girl, the second a seven-year-old boy. These killings hit so close to home that Cross finds himself emotionally involved from the first moments at the crime scene.
