Part Six, Nobody is Safe Anymore—Nobody, Chapters 87-93 Summary

The President leaves the hotel safely and arrives at Madison Square Garden. The President is escorted through an underground tunnel to the room where he is to give his speech. Cross remains in the crowd, watching for anything suspicious among the people gathered to hear the speech. Unbeknown to him, Kevin Hawkins is in the crowd dressed as a woman with FBI credentials. Cross focuses on several people who appear to be possible suspects, but the reader knows none of them are Hawkins. Hawkins is watching the whole thing under his disguise with amusement, knowing the police and Secret Service will never recognize him in the dress he is wearing. Not only that, but Hawkins feels he is ugly enough that no one will remember...
