Point of View
The novel is narrated primarily from the first-person past by Belly. However, Jeremiah occasionally narrates chapters of his own. However, the two characters do not trade off chapters one-by-one as seen in many romance novels. Instead, Belly has the vast majority of chapters to herself and delivers the plot all on her own while Jeremiah occasionally chimes in with thoughts and feelings from his own perspective. Unlike many trilogies, the point of view in the Summer series does not remain constant. Belly narrates the entirety of the first novel on her own, she and Jeremiah narrate the second novel, and she and Conrad narrate the third and final novel together.
