Dating for a Single Mother
Hoover’s novel It Starts With Us details the challenges of dating for a single mother. When Lily and Atlas meet on the street, Lily feels she is inadequate because she has carrots on her shirt, a sign she is busy mother. When Lily and Atlas begin dating, Lily struggles to find time for Atlas while being considerate of agreements she has made with Ryle regarding bringing dates around Emmy.
