Summary

In Chapter 12, Piper checked her Instagram and saw that Brendan had followed her and that she was the only one he had followed. She was not sure she liked Brendan, but she did feel curious about him. Abe from the hardware store arrived and told Piper that Brendan had sent him to put a cushion on the bottom of the top bunk so Piper would not hit her head. Piper talked to Abe about his life and when she learned that he only got to read his paper outside the maritime museum when his daughter had a day off because he could not climb the stairs to the porch on his own, Piper offered to walk him after her runs in the morning. He thanked her and asked if she had visited someone named Opal yet. Piper was curious about who Opal was...
