Summary

At the start of Chapter 37, Nilanjana rushes into Carlos’s office to tell him that his machine is what has been creating the pits in Night Vale and that he needs to turn it off. In denial and disbelief, Carlos insists he is saving Night Vale. When Nilanjana persists, he locks himself in his office and refuses to listen. Darryl comes to the lab, relieved to see Nilanjana is okay after waking up at her apartment with her gone and seeing the news. Nilanjana continues her plea to Carlos, which prompt him to open the door, in tears, and tell her he has to keep studying the otherworld so he can fix it and save everyone else from the same fate he suffered when he was trapped there. Nilanjana tells him she knows how much she believes in what he is doing...
