Summary
Chapter 21 begins the next morning. Nilanjana awakens and slips quietly out of bed, leaving Darryl to sleep. He joins her in the kitchen an hour later. Darryl has agreed to help Nilanjana with her investigation, if only to prove the church is doing nothing wrong. They devise a plan in which Nilanjana will attend that day’s service in Darryl’s place, donning the Congregation's robe and headpiece to mask her true identity while Darryl searches the offices for evidence. Nilanjana is hesitant to agree to this plan since Darryl is a member of the Congregation, but eventually says she trusts him, although she is unsure if that is actually true. The church is much more crowded than Nilanjana had anticipated when they arrive. Darryl walks in through the front while Nilanjana sneaks around back and waits for him to let her...
