Summary

Chapter 26 is titled “Pistachio.” Nastaran refuses to consider going to a PTA meeting with Mrs. Williams, saying she will not go anywhere until she learns English. Zomorod calls Carolyn with the news and pledges that she will not try to help her mother make friends again.

Chapter 27 is titled “Aloha, Polar Bear.” Zomorod says her mother has been terribly unhappy since they first moved to America and nothing makes her smile. The one time she was happy was when they met some other Iranians by chance in a mall. Zomorod compared it to two polar bears meeting up in Hawaii.
