Summary

The book begins with a “prelogue,” a neologism for a prologue that comes before the prologue. It begins with the main character introducing herself by drawing a puddle of slime with an arrow pointing to it that reads “This is me.” She then goes on to directly address the reader. She says that she turned into a puddle of slime one day because of an embarrassing incident that she will relate to us.

In the prologue, Emmie says that there are many books about kids who are outcasts, but that the outcast is usually weird, smart, or has some kind of disability. In these books, the kid normally gets picked on and then gets revenge or learns a lesson.
