Chapter 16: None So Blind Summary
At Winston's funeral, it seems that the only sympathetic faces are on Warren and Dallas. The rest treat Jackie Lee and Grace with disdain or wry amusement while the available men line up for a chance at the recent widow of Joya del Mar. Grace is glad when it is over. Jackie Lee tries to talk Grace out of leaving school for a year, but is unsuccessful. She announces that she will not be the widow draped in black, but the invitations dwindle, and it isn't long before she realizes that without Winston, she has no social standing. The first six months are a trial. Grace drops out of college, and becomes more and more adverse to leaving the estate. Jackie Lee throws dinner parties that are attended by the idle rich who simply want to gain...
