Chapters 8 and 9 Summary

Serena is home alone. She snuggles into her bed with her pet raccoon, Wally. She drifts off to sleep, but something wakes her up. She hears Mozart playing downstairs and thinks her brother might be home. Her father is in San Francisco for the weekend. When Serena glances into the den where the music is playing, she gets frightened and runs away.

It's Stanton, the leader of the Followers, that Serena see that scares her off. Stanton goes up the stairs after Serena. She tries to push into his mind, but he is already inside of her head first.
