Prologue and Chapter 1 Summary

In Greek mythology, Hades kidnaps Persephone and forces her to live in the underworld three months out of the year. Hekate is the goddess that guarded and escorted Persephone in her journey. Over time, Hekate became known as the evil goddess that patrols for innocent people to corrupt.

Serena Killingsworth and her brother Collin are on the beach surfing. Her brother is asking about Serena's problems at school. Serena knows that Morgan, a girl that likes her brother, is calling Collin and telling him stuff about her just so she has an excuse to talk to Collin.
