Summary

In Chapter 22, Matt takes them all to a nearby restaurant for breakfast and Vampi arranges a date with a Mexican waiter named Alex.

Alex and Vampi go on a date and Alex tells her the story of how he arrived illegally in the United States. He wanted to be a musician but is stuck in a job he hates. Vampi suggests he could come home with her to Mexico and tells him the story of their quest. Meanwhile, Yolo and Nayeli track down the location of Chava Chavarín, aunt Irma’s old flame.

Chapter 23 details the romance between Irma and Chava in Tres Camarones. In 1963 he left the village to go to the United States. When a woman he was dating fell pregnant he ended things with Irma.

Back in the present day, Nayeli visits Chava in the bowling alley where he works...
