Summary
In Chapter 8, Irma holds a town meeting and gives the girls permission to go on their quest, alongside Tacho. She tells everyone about her own time in the United States, which she entered illegally in order to participate in bowling competitions alongside her former boyfriend, Chava Chavarín.
Nayeli’s mother Maria asks her to find her father and she promises she will try. Aunt Irma escorts Nayeli, Yolo, Vampi, and Tacho to the bus terminal and buys four tickets to Tijuana. Irma tells them to call Chavarin when they arrive. The bus is stopped by soldiers who remove some illegal immigrants from Colombia.
In Chapter 9, the passengers are questioned by Mexican customs officials at a checkpoint. Tacho is taken aside and beaten by one of the officers. In Chapter 10, the friends transfer to another bus where they have to stand for the rest...
