Summary
In Chapter 11, the narrator sends an e-mail to Adriaan to inquire about his time in Portugal, but the narrator receives no reply. Per Adriaan’s request/offer, the narrator has continued to live in Adriaan’s apartment during his time away. Jana gives Eline’s contact information to the narrator. The narrator and Eline have lunch together. The narrator does not reveal that she knows about Anton’s recent incident. When the narrator asks questions about Anton, Eline avoids talking about the incident. They tell each other of their lives. Eline is divorced and has two children. They also speak of international politics, such as the upcoming American presidential election, and the upcoming referendum in which the United Kingdom might vote to leave the European Union. Later, the narrator continues to wait for a response form Adriaan, but she still receives none.
