Dublin, Ireland is one of the primary backdrops of the novel. This is the Irish city where both Peter Koubek and Ivan Koubek live. Peter lives in a flat alone, while Ivan lives in a flat with several other roommates. Peter works at a law firm in the city, while Ivan does freelance work from home.
