Love
The author uses the theme of love to show Evie that falling in love is worth the risk of heartache.
When Evie introduces herself to the reader, she is clear about how she is done with love and all the trappings of romance. Evie purges all of her romance novels to serve as a tangible expression of her jaded feelings about love. Yet, when Evie donates her books to the Little Free Library, Evie tells the old woman that the books are good. By donating the books, it is as though Evie is giving love away. Evie may be rejecting love for herself, but the books are available for those who want to embrace love.
