Amargo

Located in Arizona Territory, Amargo is where the Lark family establishes their homestead. After Emmett and Nora marry, they move to Amargo to start their life and family together. Plagued by drought in the narrative present, Amargo presents its inhabitants, particularly Nora, no deficit of difficulties. With the exception of Nora's memories prior to Amargo, the entirety of her narrative sections elapse within the town. Left alone on the family property with Toby and Josie, Nora finds herself frequently meditating on the sad and barren nature of her surroundings, wondering what life beyond Amargo might hold.
