Inheritance
This inheritance is a symbol of freedom. Mitsuki had believed that when her mother died that she would finally have physical and emotional freedom. Mitsuki also believed that the money she would receive would give her financial freedom because she would be able to stop teaching, a job she disliked. In reality, the inheritance that Mitsuki receives from her mother gives her all of these things in addition to freedom from an unhappy marriage. With Mitsuki’s portion of the inheritance along with additional money from the inheritance that her sister gifts to her, Mitsuki is able to get a divorce, buy a nice apartment, and quit teaching.
