Summary

In Chapter 38, Esther pretends to be sick so she can get out of going to church with her family. After they leave, her friends come over. Beth hides in the closet and tries to hack into the agency to search for the baby again. Outside it is storming. Just as Beth finds the address, Hannah barges in. In a fit of anger she knocks over Esther's fish and breaks the bowl. She runs outside and Peter picks her up. They put the fish in a cup and try to decide what to do about Hannah to keep her from telling Esther's mom and Tom about what they are doing. They rush to the church. Inside, Esther finds Hannah kissing Pastor Rick.

In Chapter 39, Esther keeps saying she smells fire. Pastor Rick begs Esther not to tell so he will not lose his job...
