Summary
In San Francisco, Thomas catches sight of a woman on the street whom he instantly identifies as Jenny. He follows her to a fast food restaurant and buys her a hamburger. The woman insists she is not Jenny and grows angry with Thomas, then attempts to rob him.
Edith slips and falls, injuring herself severely. Owen finds her later and calls an ambulance, which carries Edith away to the hospital. The tenants look on in horror. Owen informs Adeleine that she can stay if she agrees to take care of Edith in her recovery, but informs her that he intends to force the other tenants to vacate.
Thomas spends two days in the hospital before going to the library and sifting through microfilm in order to find Jenny. After hours of searching, he finds a photograph of her in a news article about...
