Summary
Marcus notices an attractive young woman in his American history class. Her name is Olivia Hutton, she comes from a Christian background, her father is a doctor, and her parents are divorced. He eventually works up the courage to ask her out on a date, and he thinks about the restrictive policies of the school regulating social interactions between male and female students. Elwyn lets Marcus use his car to take Olivia on the date. They go to an upscale restaurant called L’Escargot. Olivia comments that Marcus seems to be a very intense person. This trait appears to appeal to Olivia. After dinner, they drive to a nearby cemetery where they sit in the parked car and begin to kiss.
