Summary
In Chapter 23, Saul is 12 years old and is still playing with the St. Jerome’s team. One day, he is recruited for the boy’s hockey team of the nearby town. The team is the White River Falcons. Saul is the only-non-white player, and he is also the youngest. However, his skills are undeniable. Unfortunately, one day, Saul is kicked off of the team because the other player’s parents do not want a non-white player on the team.
In Chapter 24, a few months later, Saul is offered a place on a tournament team in another town. A man named Fred Kelly, who used to be a student at St. Jerome’s offers to be Saul’s legal guardian. Sister Ignacia does not approve of letting Saul go, but she is overruled.
