Summary

A title defines a new scene – “Ashes to Ashes: The Troupe Returns to Dust.”

There is another “Blink in Time.” A piece of popular American musical theatre plays loudly. The Troupe looks out at the audience. As the music continues, there is another title.

The next scene has two titles. The first is “Very Few Write in Yiddish Anymore,” and the second is “1952, Bridgeport, Connecticut: Moving Day, Asch and Madje Asch’s House.” The conversation takes place in Yiddish, which sounds to the audience like good English.

An older Madje and Asch come into their house, the conversation revealing that they are leaving, and that Asch is tempted to not bother packing everything up, and to leave everything behind.
