Summary
The next scene is titled “1908, Berlin: A Cabaret.” Halina and Otto (the middle-aged members of the Troupe) sings a song called “Suitcase in Berlin.” As the song comes to an end, they are joined by Chana and Avram (the Troupe's two younger members), and then the rest of the cast. The song is a celebration of how special and welcoming Berlin is, and includes a reference to how it is always “worth a trip” to “go back again” (22).
The next scene is titled “1908, Berlin: The Deutsches Theatre, Elsa Heimes and Freida Neimann” A projection indicates that the language being spoken is German.
