The Labyrinth

The labyrinth symbolizes choices. The speaker is trapped between many different options, each of which seems negative – just as in navigating a maze, one can make many different choices, but has no immediate way of knowing if they are right or wrong. It is also noteworthy that the labyrinth may seem to present many different choices, but in early modern symbolism, a labyrinth always has exactly one correct path.
