The following version of this book was used to create the guide: Zada, John. In the Valleys of the Noble Beyond. Greystone Books Ltd., 2019.

John Zada's nonfiction account of his search for the Sasquatch in the Great Bear Rainforest, British Columbia, begins with Chapters 1 and 2, wherein he sets the tone for the rest of the book by describing a hiking expedition with a friend in the province on which he thinks he may have narrowly avoided a Sasquatch encounter. The experience leads him to the Bella Coola Valley, where he begins hearing more and more about the Sasquatch and is inspired to return to the area and begin proper research on the subject. Then, in Chapters 3 and 4, Zada returns a year later to British Columbia and begins his search for information about the Sasquatch by speaking to John Bindernagel, an ostracized academic mocked by his peers for his interest in the supposedly mythical creature. Zada next visits Bella Bella, a Heiltsuk Nation town where he is welcomed by a kind landlady and told many stories of local sightings of the Sasquatch.

In Chapters 5 and 6, Zada continues his search by travelling first to the Koeye River, where he partakes in a camp run by a Heiltsuk Nation nonprofit organization and experiences the beauty of the river and the river estuary, and then to Wuikinuxv, a town inhabited by the Wuikinuxv Nation which suffers hostile relations with the Heiltsuk Nation. Beyond learning about a supposedly cursed valley in the nearby area which no local will agree to show him, Zada does not discover any unusual or interesting information about the Sasquatch in Wuikinuxv. In Chapters 7 and 8, Zada travels to Ocean Falls, a white settler community in a nearly-abandoned commercial town, where the locals speak to him of ghosts and other supernatural activity but profess not to believe in the Sasquatch. Zada also reconnects with Leonard Ellis, a famed former bear hunter, who speaks to some local views about the Sasquatch but himself is more concerned with the loss of bear hunting as a livelihood.

Finally, in Chapter 9 and the epilogue, Zada distills everything he has learned about the Great Bear Rainforest and about the Sasquatch, concluding that the Sasquatch is a phenomenon beyond merely the physical, and that sightings of the creature often speak more to human psychology and spirituality than they do to scientific discovery or investigation. Zada lets go of the dichotomy between 'existence' and 'non-existence' as it related to the Sasquatch, marveling at the vast expanse of relatively inaccessible land in the Great Bear Rainforest and choosing to believe that the land itself certainly holds more than meets the eye. Whether or not it holds as yet unstudied species of mammal like the Sasquatch, Zada professes to be charmed by the region and suffers anxiety induced by the incessant noise and bustle of the urban center of Toronto where he must return to his ordinary life after his trip.
