Bobi Conn

Bobi Conn is the author and narrator of the book. She described her life from early childhood, beginning with how she felt about the “holler” where she was born and raised. She was the older child and only daughter in her family. Her paternal grandparents, Granny and Papaw Conn, lived farther in the holler and Bobi saw their home and her Granny's steadying influence as an important refuge in her life. Her maternal grandparents, Grandma and Papaw Wright, lived nearby though they were not nearly as important to Bobi. She had a close relationship to her brother Junior when she was very young and sometimes felt she should be his protector though she also took out her own frustrations on him sometimes.
