Summary
In Chapter 26, “About Love,” Bobi was living alone on her 19th birthday and found she could pay her bills on time. Her father arrived with drugs and Bobi snorted Lortab and Ritalin because she knew the drugs were expensive and that this was his only way of showing he loved her. She talked about several short-term relationships. Two men once followed her home from a party and raped her. She chose to submit to them rather than fight and never called the police. The censure of two other men she briefly dated seemed to indicate she made the correct decision, knowing no one would believe a woman “like me, poor women with crazy fathers who grow up in hollers” (189).
