Forest

Vic grew up in a forest in the current Pacific northwest, where Gio found a small home and built a residential complex for himself and his son. While the forest is unnamed, Nurse Ratched explains that the forest is “located in a place that used to be known as Ory-Gone,” or Oregon (111). The forest is an isolated refuge from the outside world, where the protagonists live in harmony with nature.

The Coachman’s House

The Coachman’s house is a four-story brick and wood house that can move independently. The house is described as a carnival-esque environment, with old piano tunes playing and large smokestacks blowing out smoke. The house is itself a traveling circus, showcasing remnants of human life and culture.
