Ch. 7: Winter Lessons Summary
Alanna goes to visit the healer Mistress Cooper, George's mother. She tells the woman about Jonathan's odd behavior since returning from the war and how he is hot and cold toward her. She then asks Mistress Cooper to teach her how to dress like a girl.
Alanna returns to Mistress Cooper's house for a final fitting and is treated to getting her makeup and hair done. She looks in the mirror and is shocked by how beautiful she is. Mistress Cooper tells her that it will be hard to learn all of the manners Alanna will need to behave as a lady while at court. Alanna expresses that she is restless at the palace and needs to get away to think. She doesn't say that Jonathan kissed her again the night before. George and Jonathan come to the house...
