Summary

Chapter 1 is titled “Rosebud Sioux Indian Reservation.” Jimmy McClean lives only a couple of blocks from the reservation school. He is happy that school will soon be out for the summer. The main reason he does not like school is that two boys torment him relentlessly. Jesse Little Horse and Corky Brin tease Jimmy because of his last name, his light skin, and his blue eyes. Jesse is Lakota and Corky is white. They only like each other when they join forces to tease Jimmy. Jimmy's features and last name are handed down from his paternal grandfather, Nyles High Eagle.
