Summary
In Chapter 28, Tracy's mind is reeling with new theories and possibilities. She imagines that someone who was aware of the file's existence might destroy one crucial piece of evidence and an effort to derail the investigation. She knows that Lionel, as chief of police, would have access to that file and the knowledge of how to accomplish it. The novel then reverts to Tuesday, November 23, 1976. Buzz stops at the Reynolds' home where Eric's Bronco has a for sale sign. He pretends interest in the vehicle and notes that the fender has been repaired and the color does not quite match. Ron says it was minor damage and that he'd had the fender repaired and windshield replaced at Columbia Auto Repair (owned by the Devoes). He takes photos of the vehicle as well, saying he knows someone else who might be interested, carefully photographing...
