Summary

In Chapter 25, Ruby begins to work out the details of her plan to download the virus. The girls take turns telling pieces of a story that always ends with a girl managing to escape, which is the hope of every girl there. When it is Ruby's turn, she picks up the story of the girl who had just managed to escape from a castle where a battle was raging. Ruby says the girl rides back toward the castle because “she couldn't leave her family behind” (482). All the other girls in the cabin look at each other, and Ruby wonders how many of them manage to hope that she might be there to rescue them.

The girls are taken to the mess hall where they see a film. President Gray introduces his wife, Lillian Gray, and says Lillian has perfected a procedure to eliminate...
