Summary
Brian first agreed to get tested for memory loss in 2019 after he had hip surgery. He hoped at the time that his poor memory might just be a bad reaction to the anesthesia used for the hip implant in the spring of that year. Over time, Amy began to find it unbearable to spend time with Brian. His forgetfulness conveyed a sense of foreshadowing that their lives were going to change in a negative way, but she was also unwilling to think too deeply about what that change might be, partly out of self-preservation. The more she read and investigated on her own, the more convinced she became that Brian had the signs of mild-to-moderate Alzheimer’s and had since late 2016.
Brian got his final job as a university architect in 2012 and eventually took early retirement when he clashed with his coworkers soon...
