Chapter 9 Summary
Eve knows intuitively that the case against Mavis and the murder case of Boomer are related but she needs proof. She talks to Chief Technician Dickie Brenski to see if she can get him to accelerate the speed of his report on the unknown powder found in Boomer's apartment. Brenski is not a man to be pushed, pressed, or persuaded unless it is his choice. Eve hates to stoop to the level of bribery, but she finally offers the tech two box seat tickets to the Yankee-Red Sox game the next night. This is enough to get the tech to give them the report on Boomer, which has an unknown element, the same one Roarke is unable to identify. The powder is comprised of amphetamine, anti-aging properties, and energizers that will enhance sex drive, followed by violent mood swings, with increased physical strength...
