Pamela Des Barres
Miss Des Barres wears her heart on her book sleeve as well as on every page. She is proud of her "groupie" conquests. However, her role as "the other woman" makes for an empathetic character. Being with so many men, famous or otherwise, has ups and downs. The downs are painful, and her diary depicts a soul in a state of continual wanting. The favors she provides are full of naïve love and expectation. She genuinely cares for and is in many ways addicted to the idea of being "with the band". Her need for "the conquest" is something she ascribes to Marty, one of her cheating boyfriends. It is hard to believe she does not realize she suffers from the same affliction. Because of the era in which these events took place, it's hard to categorize Miss Des Barres, or any groupie, as whorish...
