Summary
Acheron continues to wonder why Thorn seeks Nick, when Acheron has proven definitively that Nick is human. Acheron’s granddaughter Simi appears, bleeding from an attack in the house. Acheron has no healing powers in this reality because he is the Harbinger, but Nick is too stubborn to watch the teenager die. He remembers a chant his godmother Menyara used to say when he was sick as a child, and he repeats it over Simi until his hands begin to glow with heat that pours into Simi. Nick has never previously had healing powers, but Simi’s wounds disappear. Acheron leaves to check on Ash and whatever is invading his house. He soon teleports Nick, Simi, and Ash into his study, announcing that the Arelim also want Nick. Nick has never heard of that race, and has no idea why they want him. Acheron...
