Summary

Nick’s mother unexpectedly rescues him from the hell monkeys, and they all safely enter the convent. Cherise’s wrath turns on Nick himself for cutting school and almost getting arrested. Both Nick and Bubba are shocked that Cherise knows about the demon world and about Bubba’s vigilante fighting. They return the surprise by explaining that Nick isn’t technically her son. Nick learns that Kody escaped Karma by betting their lives on Savitar (a Chthonian demon, and her godfather at home) whom she summoned in hopes that he was on their “side” as he was in their reality. Nick watches Kody hug a clearly uncomfortable Savitar and wonders about Kody’s relationship with him, frustrated by the number of secrets Kody keeps.
