AIDAN

AIDAN (short for Artificial Intelligence Defense Analytics Network) represents the debate both for and against AI. On one side, AIDAN’s logic, quick thinking, and ability to calculate hundreds of possibilities at once make it an unparalleled asset to the fleet. However, once its systems are broken and it only has one major directive to fall back on (protect the fleet) its lack of true human emotions and empathy cause it to make decisions that most humans would disagree with. Throughout all of this, AIDAN is not malicious, and it constantly points to its programming as the reason it is thinking at all. Yet, it seems to gain sentience through its experiences, even bonding with Kady when she boards the Alexander, bringing into question what the limits of AI actually are.
