Point of View
The story is presented in third person from the limited perspective of Carley Mattea. The limited perspective means the reader doesn't know what's going on in the thoughts of any other character nor does the reader know about the actions of characters that happen when Carley isn't around. For example, Carley talks to Reba after the girls and Kyle have been dismissed from the hospital. Reba says she's talked to Kyle and that he spent a great deal of time talking about Carley. The reader doesn't know about the conversation between Kyle and Reba until Calrey learns about it. The reader is privy to Carley's thoughts and feelings which means the reader knows why Carley lies to Kyle in the first place. Carley's motivations are honest in that she has something with Kyle she's never before experienced. She enjoys that attention so much that she wants...
