Summary

McNamara meets with Paul Holes in Contra Costa County for a tour of crime scenes across Northern California. Holes is a criminalist and chief of the County Sheriff's crime lab, who was spent many years investigating the EAR. McNamara describes him as literal minded and interested in concrete tasks. He explains that he is well versed in geographic profiling, which allows criminalists to have an idea of where a killer might live. He notices that criminals typically have a buffer zone around their residence, since it is less desirable to commit crimes near their home.
